As Legal Services Director, I am responsible for creating and updating all legal processing forms for adoptive situations and termination of parental rights proceedings, as well as all internal agency forms. I do everything under the supervision of the Executive Director, in accordance with all federal and state laws, as well as the Florida Court Rules of Procedure and The Department of Children and Families (DCF) administrative code and DCF internal policies and procedures.
I’ve worked in the legal field since arriving in Orlando in 1972 and I have over 30 years experience as a paralegal. I’ve worked with the Executive Director since 1989 and with the agency since its inception.
My husband, Vern, and I have been happily married for 37 years. We have three adult children and eight grandchildren. My grandchildren keep me occupied attending ball games, dance recitals/competitions and family get-togethers, which I thoroughly love. My husband and I are also very active in our church. I taught elementary Sunday School for over 15 years and have been actively involved in missions for the past 12 years. I have a huge passion for mission trips and have participated as a short-term missionary with my husband for the past 12 years in several foreign countries.
What do I love most about my job?
I love knowing that this is not a “job,” but God’s ministry and that He empowers me to do His work with integrity and excellence. The benefits are seeing that birth parents are helped through a difficult decision and children are placed in families who have been waiting for the child that God has just for them.
